Change over day!! My parents left this morning, Alice's dad arrived this afternoon!

Monday, 30 March 2009

Mum's Christmas present was tickets to Russell Watson tonight. We ate at Host before hand. Lovely meal and a very enjoyable concert.

Sunday, 29 March 2009

Mum and Dad arrived this afternoon, it really wasn't long before Dad was looking quite relaxed in the garden.

Saturday, 28 March 2009

Homemade chicken liver pate (or parfait as Jamie calls it). Not to everyone's liking I know, and not looking particularly appetising with its clarified butter seal, but believe me (and Lucy Earle) it tastes good!

A bargain from the green grocer this morning at just round shiny pound coin.

Thursday, 26 March 2009

A rather spontaneous decision this evening was to go to The Gulshan for a drink because they had an open mike night. Mustafa's 15 year old son absolutely blew us away with his awesome guitar playing...truly a star in the making, surely! Oh, and we couldn't resist just a couple of tapas.

This is an update on the work on the Lime Street Gateway - yes that's what it's to be called. No remains of the ugly shops or Concorde tower and that pleases me.

Tuesday, 24 March 2009

Looked out of the bedroon window this morning to see that the Everton in the Community bus had arrived at the school.

Ready to run!

Sunday, 22 March 2009

Whiled away sometime on this Facebook 70s lyrics quiz set by my Sis.

Sushi first and then to Vinea in the Albert Dock for wine tasting. A great night out.

Yumm! Homemade butternut squash and chick pea curry!

Thursday, 19 March 2009

Another beautiful spring day and as I was working at home I could take a photo of my favourite spring shrubs in the sunshine. Twisted hazel catkins in the foreground and forsythia in the background.

On  dash to Speke to buy a Mother's Day present this evening I found this bright star changing colours - purple, red and blue. I had to take the pic quickly as I rather naughtily stopped the car on the way into the car park. It wasn't busy though.

A light meal of homemade broccoli and stilton soup in preparation for the penultimate hockey training of the season.

What a bizarre experience I had at lunchtime. Went for a walk in the sunshine with Fiona down to the pierhead and as we passed the Town Hall we were invited in for tea with the Lord Mayor! Quite surreal. So if you ever wondered what the ground floor room on the right of the Town Hall looks like (the Lady Mayoress' Parlour) now you know.

I woke at 6.30 and got so giddy about the 1s game that I couldn't get back to sleep. So I got up and watched Babel and then went for a run with Lindsey before watching the match. It was a close and tense game but the resulting draw was sufficient to see the mighty Mossley win the league!! Today's photo shows the efforts of my late afternoon toil (after a bit of celebrating and then a Tesco trip), yes it was the first cut of the year. And doesn't the grass look better for it. The few hours in the garden this weekend have made a big difference. A really enjoyable weekend....lots of time outdoors = good news.

Saturday, 14 March 2009

The gardening season has started. Today we bought this little greenhouse thingy and sowed the sweetpeas which you can see in it. We also planted some shallots and garlic in our little veg patch and some more shallots in planter.

Friday 13th...Red Nose Day

Today, we discovered, is Lindsey's birthday. So as a last minute arrangement we went round to celebrate with champers and Comic Relief.  Unfortunately, like Cinderella (again!) I was home too late for the curfew, hence Friday's post will be stamped Saturday.

The first day this year that we've been able to hang the washing out. Didn't manage to get it completely dry mind you!

Sad Sofa

This sad and empty looking sofa has a story to tell. We should have been going out with Lucy Earl tonight for her birthday but Alice came home from work with a migraine and went straight to bed. So this is how her sofa has been looking all night.  :-(

The reason for last night's early night was that I had to be at BioBank bright and early to take part in a massive NHS research project. 2 hours of assessments later and I had a list of 'good' on a results print out.
At lunchtime I was tempted by the challenge of the bag of crisps above - OMG!!! I couldn't finish them, they brought tears to my eyes. And, if you're interested, there's an even hotter version.

It's an early night for us - photo taken and uploaded by 1opm!!

Happy Birthday SIs!

Waved goodbye to one (birthday) Blogger in the afternoon and then welcomed another (travelling) Blogger to the house a couple of hours later. In this photo there are 3 Bloggers - can you spot them all?

Saturday, 7 March 2009

Had a lovely day today with Boo and the family. I took little Alice to Otterspool Prom park in the morning. In the afternoon we all went to the World Museum and then through Liverpool One to the Arena where I experimented with the panorama setting on my camera. Not a bad first attempt - expect a few more during the year.

They're here! And Little Rabbit Foo Foo gets another outing.

Thursday, 5 March 2009

Study transformed into a spare bedroom. Alice is waiting for its occupant to arrive!

Wednesday, 4 March 2009

Just to prove that spring has arrived and it's even light enough to take a photo when I get home from work - the colour us a bit weird because I had the camera on the wrong light setting. Still... you can tell what they are.

Tuesday, 3 March 2009

This shot was taken whilst I was waiting for Alice's infamous last minute trip to the toilet before training.

Eating out with some of Merseyside Police to celebrate their success in Stonewall's Work Place Index. Well done everyone!

Sunday, 1 March 2009

This is Little Moreton Hall near Congleton in Cheshire where we met Alice's parents for lunch. A beautiful spring day.
